Why Javier Roca Came Back: A New Chapter with El Ranchito and Pitch Black
After more than two decades in visual effects, Javier “Roca” Roca has built a career connected to major productions such as The Impossible, Jurassic World, The Martian, Game of Thrones, The Mandalorian, and John Wick: Chapter 4, as well as working at studios including MPC, ILM, Weta, and Rodeo FX, and two previous chapters at El Ranchito.
Now he joins Pitch Black as Creative Director and Senior VFX Supervisor, initially focusing on creative leadership and client relationships for El Ranchito.
“When I left El Ranchito, I knew I would come back someday. What I didn’t know was when the right opportunity would arrive.”
For Roca, this new chapter is looking toward the future: bringing his experience, his vision, and his creative energy to help push what comes next.
“I return with more experience, new ideas, and a clear sense of the impact I can have. I will have the opportunity to think big and work on a global scale as part of an incredible network of studios.”
